Sustainability at Bel & The Dragon
As a business, we play a key role in our communities. But it’s not just our immediate neighbourhood that we have a responsibility to – we are constantly looking at ways we can reduce our impact on the environment, help local causes, and support our team members.
Reducing our impact on the planet
Net Zero
We are committed to achieve Net Zero on or before 2040 – with a commitment to be Net Zero for operational emissions by 2030.
All of the energy we use in our site is 100% renewable – sourced from wind, solar and hydroelectricity.
Sustainable sources
Our supply chain is responsible for over half of our carbon emissions and our suppliers are the key to us reducing our impact on the planet.
Our beef is from Grassroots - who source beef that is farmed using regenerative farming practices. Regenerative farming produces roughly half the amount of carbon of typical UK farming methods.

Reduce, reuse, recycle
We are committed to reducing the amount of material resource we use to operate our business and follow the principle of reducing, reusing, and recycling wherever possible.
We look to minimise the amount of single use items in our sites. This includes refillable water bottles in our rooms and the use of dispense soaps rather than single use bottles and sachets.
All of our sites now have access to mixed, glass and food recycling. 100% of the waste collected is diverted from landfill – with general waste going to an energy from waste facility.
Waste cooking oil is collected from our sites by Olleco – who recycle this oil to create a biodiesel product used to fuel vehicles.
