Christmas in Victorian London. Snow falls from the sky, gas lamps flicker in the streets, and snowball-throwing ragamuffins in woollen scarves are wrapped up as tight as they can be. The pavements are filled with the smell of hot roasted chestnuts, while carol singers roam the streets of St Paul’s, merrily trilling about the joys of the season.

Only the most miserable of souls could hate this time of year. For, as they say, it is the season to be jolly...

But despite the festivities, the warmth of Christmas cheer and the merriment filling the streets, it seems someone had murder on their mind.
